Karin flinched when the bell above the door dinged. Bright turquoise eyes looked up from the counter they were behind and softened the minute they saw her. Toshiro held up a finger to her, as a sign to give him a minute, and then he returned to talking with the customer he was with - some unknown woman with long auburn hair. Karin moved over to stand next to a drum display, watching curiously.
"You said your daughter knows how to play?" Toshiro asked. Karin hadn't noticed, but he had a saxophone in his hands that he was now taking apart piece by piece and putting away in an open case on the counter.

"Karin! Karin, look at this scarf!"
"Come on, Yu... No more clothes."
If there was anything more dangerous in the world than walking through the Kaimono District of Karakura with her twin sister, Karin Kurosaki didn't know of it. The Kaimono was old. Old cobblestone streets. Wide sidewalks. Vendors everywhere. Shops with their doors propped open, trying to lure you in to see what treasures they had for sale. Artists lined up along the sidewalk, offering the temptation of an open seat to take and pay for your own personal, ha

Toshiro felt the cold travel from his fingertips to the cup in his hand, cooling the small bit of liquid left at the bottom of it. He lifted the cup to his lips and swallowed the last of the terrible drink, unable to stop the weird face he made when the liquid burned down his esophagus. With a sigh, he pressed the cold, empty cup to one of his throbbing temples, hoping it would help some with the headache he couldn't seem to get rid of.
How long had it been since he had tasted alcohol? At least a decade by his count. Maybe even two. He hated Sake. It was a vile drink that clouded his h

Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya had never allowed himself to be ruled by his emotions.
But that didn't mean he didn't have any.
His small, but strong hands pushed open the large double doors of the Captain's Hall, knowing full well the Head Captain would be there, waiting for him. The elderly man stood not at his usual place at the back of the hall, but off to the side, near a wall, speaking with Captain Ukitake. Toshiro was glad. Not being in his normal position would make it seem just the slightest bit more like he and the Head Captain were on equal ground.
The minute the head of the 13

Toshiro leaned against the wall outside the 10th Division Office - his ever faithful busty lieutenant close beside him. A Soul Reaper clothed Rukia stood nearby, staring at the door, completely unmoving - not even to blink.
They waited in silence, attempting to ignore the muffled sounds inside the office. Crying, mostly. As much from Ichigo as from his now passed sister. But it was hard, considering the heightened senses of the three hallway occupants.
Heightened senses that immediately picked up on the sound of footsteps coming down the hallway. Toshiro straightened and turned with

As was the way of the universe, the moment Toshiro left Karin's side, she woke up.
He had been sitting beside her, watching her sleep on the couch across from him while he worked on the table, sitting on the floor, surrounded by paperwork. When at last Matsumoto came to tell him he was needed elsewhere, hours had passed and he was severely cramped up.
Toshiro reached his arm over his head, hearing his bones crack. He stood and hesitated. Surely Karin would stay asleep for fifteen more minutes while he ran out quickly? "Don't leave her, Matsumoto," he ordered his subordinate know

If the procedure was supposed to be painful, Karin didn't feel a thing.
Because the moment they had her lay down on the couch in the Head Captain's office, and Head Captain Yamamoto himself placed his hands on her stomach, her entire body lurched, and then went limp. She had gone unconscious.
"Karin!" Toshiro shouted, immediately taking a step forward from where he had been positioned at the door.
Unohana, whom the Head Captain had called to be readily available should anything go wrong, stretched her arm in front of Captain Hitsugaya halting him in his tracks. She didn't say

And if that meant that I walked up the Church steps in a royal purple, spaghetti strap dress with a V shaped breast that fell down to the middle of my calves and looked more like a silk nightgown than something you might wear to attend a wedding... Then so be it.

I created equivalent exchange. It was my idea way back when the world was first beginning and the very first Alchemist was born. Back then the world was a lot simpler for humans, and oh so difficult for us - the beings - who watch over you. Who take care of you.
Alchemists reside in my world. Amestris. It was the world given to me by my mother when I became of age. Technically, I suppose it would be considered somewhere around 15 or 16, but in

Truth is what I called this being. He was a pure white body mass who took the form of what looked like a human, but no one - not even I - knew what it really was.

Don't ask me why it feels the need to title me. I have told Truth over and over again that it can simply call me 'Amestris', but it was resigned to call me 'Master', which later became 'Mistress'. I don't necessarily like being called 'Mistress', but I have given up trying to argue with Truth.

Rangiku threw her car in park and looked over at her sour President passenger. He had been in a much better mood when she had left him at the park earlier. It was a shame he was back to his old, stiff self.
"Because you're the President, sir," she told him, unnecessarily happy as always, "You're the one who hands out demerits. I'm just the chauffer."
Toshiro sighed. He'd been halfway home when Rangiku called about some last minute detention notices that needed to be dropped off tonight. She had completely forgotten about them until seven o'clock, and then eagerly swung by to pick him

Toshiro was having a hard time focusing on his studies.
This was strange. Usually he could block out just about anything and give his work his full attention. Oddly enough, it wasn't thoughts of Karin or the after school soccer game that were bothering him
It was Ichigo.
Every time Toshiro looked, the carrot-top was staring at him. He wasn't hostile or anything, but the staring was weirding even Toshiro out. It was like Ichigo was analyzing him.
So the first thing Toshiro did when he sat down at their lunch table that day was very calmly and tactfully approached the subject.
"What is your problem, Kurosaki?"
Yeah. Or no

Toshiro rolled his eyes - too frustrated to even put into words. "Apparently not well enough, since you keep finding me," he hissed under his breath.
Rangiku blinked at him - confused. She had been heading to the concession stand when she spotted Toshiro in the shadow beneath the bleachers, against the back wall of the restrooms/concession stand building. It was an interesting design, having the building and the bleachers back-to-back, but there was a large sign only a few feet away that clearly said: NO ON IS PERMITTED UNDER THE BLEACHERS FOR ANY REASON!

A group of Soul Reaper officers scattered like mice; jumping away from Toshiro Hitsugaya - who had somehow snuck up behind them without their noticing. They all frantically turned to him, immediately bowing in some sort of last attempt to kiss ass for whatever it was they had been doing wrong.

I heard our assignment for English class this week is going to be reading Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Beautiful play, don't you think? I mean, Romeo was a pompous ass who seemed to have more rocks than brains in his head, and an attraction to jailbait-young girls. Juliet was conceited, stubborn, probably not as pretty as Romeo played her up to be, and something far beyond a simple drama queen. Not to mention their love was completely unfounded, and probably just a subconscious misdirection of rebellion towards their parents.
But still. Beautiful play.
