Inuyasha: College Days

----------

Piece Two: Observations

----------

“’This place is a huge University!’,” Kagome mocked, trudging along the hallway, messing with her backpack strap on her shoulder, “’I doubt any of them will be in even one of our classes!’”

Inuyasha scowled, “So Sesshomaru is in our Literature class. It’s not like we’ll see anymore of him, or any of the others, either.”

Kagome sighed and tried to readjust the strap of her backpack. She really needed to get a new one, this old one was starting to get on her nerves. Inuyasha rolled his eyes and grabbed the backpack from her, twirling her in a circle in the process.

“Whoa. Wha-?” she took a moment to steady herself in one place. Inuyasha waited patiently beside her like the faithful puppy he was.

When she was no longer tipsy, Kagome began to walk again. Inuyasha flung the backpack on his shoulder, over his own pack, and followed her swiftly.

“Tell me the truth, Kagome,” Inuyasha kept pace with her easily as they made their way down the crowded hallway and outside the school, “This isn’t about Sesshomaru or Koga or Miroku or any of them. You’re freaking out because Kikyo is coming to this school as well.”

Kagome brushed brightly. Can he really see through me that easily? she thought, but shook her head to chase it from her head, Well, even if he can, I can’t admit that’s the real reason I’m worried. “No,” she snapped, and turned her head away from him, “Why should she upset me? You promised it was over with you two, and I believe you.”

Inuyasha sighed, That makes one of us… I’m not even sure if I believe me.

“KAGOME!” an overly familiar voice screamed from across the front yard of the school building, “INUYASHA! THERE YOU ARE!”

“Oh jeez,” Kagome and Inuyasha murmured in unison.

Sango came running over to the two of them, with Miroku in tow. “Hey you guys,” she gave them each a hug, “God have we ever missed you!”

“Too bad we can’t say the same,” Inuyasha muttered, and Kagome elbowed him in the side for it.

“What?” Sango asked, having actually not heard what he said.

Kagome waved her hands in the air, palms up. “Oh, nothing, just forget it,” she lowered her arms, “So, where’s everyone else?”

“Oh, they’re around,” she answered, “Probably finding their classes or something.” Her face changed slightly. Sort of like from bubbly and excited to just bubbly. “We just bumped into Sesshomaru a minute ago,” she informed them, “He told us he was in your English class. How did that go?”

Shrugging, Kagome looked over at Inuyasha. “Inuyasha got kicked out again just as Sesshomaru showed up,” she told Sango and Miroku, “So that was interesting, I guess.”

Sango giggled. “Did your brother make you look like an idiot again?” she asked Inuyasha.

He sighed, “When doesn’t he?”

The group laughed a little. Kagome smiled, she was glad that after these 6 years in the modern world, Inuyasha could joke around about something like his brother. The four of them crossed the grass to the building beside the one Inuyasha and Kagome had just come out of. Once inside the building, they headed straight for the student’s lounge.

The student’s lounge had actually been an idea of Inuyasha’s. He went to the principle and explained that the kids in this University weren’t getting good grades, because they were too uptight and high-strung. They needed a place to relax every now and again. A place where people could do their homework and enjoy being around their friends at the same time. Needless to say, his plan worked, and the extra storage room on the lower level of building C had been transformed. The students lounge now had a huge half-circle couch in front of a big screen T.V., 10 computers scattered randomly around the room, a food and drink stand and more tables than anyone cared to count.

Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku and Sango entered the student’s lounge to find Koga sitting beside Ayame, who was clicking away on her laptop. The instant he saw Kagome, his face brightened up, and Inuyasha’s darkened.

“Yo! Kagome!” he called, and Kagome looked over at him. He waved for her to come join him. Of course, she did, with Inuyasha protectively at her side, and Miroku and Sango following.

“Hey Koga,” she greeted, actually pleased to see him after having not for a whole year, “How are you?”

Koga smirked and motioned a thumb over at Ayame, “Besides this little pest treating me like a pup on a leash, been doin’ good. How about you?”

“Oh, fine,” she smiled at him, “Nothing special. You know?”

Inuyasha growled, which earned him another elbow in the side. Jeez, Kagome thought snappishly, Four seconds I’ve been talking to Koga, and he’s already jealous. What am I going to do with him? “So Koga,” she continued as if he hadn’t just damaged Inuyasha’s rib cage, “Do you and Ayame have any classes together?”

Koga grabbed a folded up piece of paper from the pocket of his jeans. For the first time since seeing all her friends, she actually looked at what they all were wearing.

Koga had on plain blue jeans and a black T-shirt with a picture of a big brown wolf howling at the moon on it. That was expected. The T-shirt had been a present to him from Kagome’s mother two Christmas’s ago, and was now his favorite. She looked down and noticed that like Sesshomaru from earlier, he was wearing Vans, but his were brown like the wolf on his shirt. He had his hair down today, and in a braid, which was a little unexpected, but it was probably her mother’s doing.

Ayame was different, in her own sort of way. She wore a white, short jean skirt. Her shirt was the new Eyelash Tie-Dyed Tee she had ordered online from an American store called Kohls. It had a sort of “retro vibe” in black, white and multiple blues, with a long torso and short sleeves. For shoes she wore plain blue flip-flops to match the flower in her hair. She always had that flower with her, and it somewhat surprised Kagome that it hadn’t even wilted yet. Her hair was down, which was another weird style. Well, for her at least. She constantly complained that when her hair was down, it got in the way, since it went down to her butt. Then again, it was a little shorter since it was in beautifully curled ringlets that just cascaded down her back.

Kagome also noticed Sango and Miroku’s outfits. Sang was in green cargo pants and an Era Henley top that was solid magenta, to match her eye shadow, with short sleeves. For shoes she wore magenta Converse All Stars, (a birthday gift from Kagome), and a silver chain bracelet from Miroku she hadn’t taken off since he gave it to her. Her hair was up in the ponytail she had once worn when fighting demons, so it was nothing special.

Miroku, like the others, stuck to his own color, purple. He wore a form-fitting purple shirt he had bought and written the words “Warning: Womanizer on the Prowl” on in turquoise lettering. He kept his hair in the short pony he had always had, and wore turquoise Vans under big baggy blue jeans. Kagome briefly wondered what was up with the guys and their Vans.

“Here,” Koga offered Kagome the folded up paper from his pocket, snapping her out of her deep analysis of everyone’s clothes.

She took the paper and opened it, finding it to be Koga’s class schedule. She skimmed it quickly and deduced that he had two classes with her and Inuyasha, (who her mother’s friend Mizuki had placed in all of Kagome’s classes). She folded the paper back up and returned it to him. “Two classes,” she told him, “Biology II and Calculus I.”

Koga nodded and tucked the paper back in his pocket. “Ayame here has four classes with me,” he informed Kagome, “Calculus I, Linguistics I, Logic and World Relations.”

Kagome smiled at Ayame. “Well, that’s good. Try to keep him in line, Ayame,” she joked.

Ayame giggled, “He is a handful.”

“You’re telling me,” Kagome replied, looking over at Inuyasha.

Inuyasha and Koga both folded their arms and stuck their noses in the air. “Tch,” they scoffed in unison. The whole group laughed at their similarities.

Suddenly, two more figures joined them. It was Sesshomaru, wearing his same outfit from this morning, and Kagura, in hip-hugging jeans with a bright red belt to match her loud eyes, and a pink tube top under a completely open, white, Daphne Cotton Shirt. She carried a big Neon Feather Tote she had bought for the new school year with bright pink, purple and light blue, neon peacock feather print all over it. On her feet were purple Richie Platform Pumps. Her hair was up in a bun with green chopsticks coming out of it that matched her green earrings. Though she had traded in her feathers most days, she still liked to keep her earrings, and her hair up.

“Hello,” she greeted. Her voice wasn’t cheery or anything like Sango’s or Kagome’s, but it wasn’t outspokenly spiteful either. Just, normal.

Murmurs of ‘Hello’ and ‘Hi’ were returned to her greeting. She shuffled around the books in her hands until she found the paper she was looking for. “Kagome,” she called, handing her the paper, “Can you help me? I can’t find my next hour to save my life, and Sesshomaru isn’t being helpful in the least.”

“Sure,” Kagome took the schedule and looked it over, “Oh. Modern Philosophy. I took that last year. It’s a really fun class, actually, and your teacher is really cool.”

“Modern Philosophy… Hmm…” Ayame took a sip of the soda she had sitting beside her laptop, “Professor Iwate, huh?”

Inuyasha growled deep in his throat. Quietly, though, so no one but Kagome heard, and she just rolled her eyes at him. “Iwate hated me,” he stated, “Never actually found out what his problem was.”

“Maybe it wasn’t Professor Iwate,” Kagome’s expression was flat, “It seems to me that none of your teachers like you.”

“Well,” Miroku interrupted, speaking for the first time since he met up with all of his friends, “Inuyasha has always had a way with people. I guess he just has to grow on them.”

Kagome shook her head, “Or not.”

The group laughed. Even Kagura giggled and Sesshomaru cracked a smile that was, for once, not passive aggressive.

“Come on, Kagura,” Kagome grabbed Kagura’s free hand and pulled her along after her, “I’ll show you where your class is, since it starts in a few minutes.”

Kagura allowed herself to be pulled along by Kagome, and Inuyasha tagged along beside her. Just as they were leaving the door, Kagura looked back to Sesshomaru, who stayed where he was. Her red eyes met his gold, and a fire was sparked, then she disappeared from the doorway and out of his view.

Koga looked back and forth from the doorway to Sesshomaru. “Yo, Sesshy,” he called, earning his a deathly golden glare. “Jeez. Sorry,” Koga apologized, leaning away from him, and back in his chair, “Sesshomaru… Are you… hittin’ that?”

Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes, then rolled them and left without a word.

“I’ll take that as a ‘yes’,” Koga commented when he was sure Sesshomaru was out of hearing range.

“Please,” Sango laughed, “You honestly think Sesshomaru is chasing after Kagura?”

Koga shook his head. “I didn’t say, ‘chasing’, I said, ‘hitting’,” he clarified, “And yes, I do. I know this kind of stuff. It’s a dog thing.”

Miroku, Sango and Ayame were silent for a moment, and then out of nowhere, burst out laughing so hard people started to stare.

Koga was dumbfounded, “What’s so funny?”

“First of all,” Sango gasped through her laughs, “That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard! Sesshomaru and Kagura? Are you high?”

“And secondly,” Miroku continued, “You just called yourself a dog!”

Ayame, not wanting to have said nothing, added, “Well, you know, no matter how many times he proclaims himself to be a wolf, he still follows every command Kagome throws at him like the puppy he is!”

The three of them laughed some more. Koga got up from his chair and left, angry knocking it over in the process, which just made the three laugh even harder. He growled and tore out of the students lounge.

Damn, he cussed in his head, It was a slip-up. It wasn’t even that funny! And I am right! I know Kagura and Sesshomaru have the hotts for each other! Outside the building, he slowed down to walk across the grass to the shade of some trees, Just wait, when those two hook up, I’ll be the one with the last laugh!

He paused and shook his head, That was so cliché. I really need to stop watching Kagome’s DVDs so much.

:lmao: I liked this chapter even more! Probably because of the Sess/Kagu-ness. "Sesshomaru and Kagura? Are you high?” I also liked Kagura and Kagome's friendship. Overall, that was just a really funny chapter.
